Vista prefers HDCP compliant monitors, like the new sky HD boxes like as well (Sky Pace HD boxes at last) if you do not have a HDCP monitor you could come across issues with certain HD formats causing your monitor to simply go black, as Vista requires the DHCP handshake

Get a Samsung 22inch monitor, the new ones are all DHCP compliant and if you find a 24inch for a great price grab it

If they are selling the "S" panel ones that's a bargain, Samsung sold three different panels for that monitor and some were quite poor, the S panel was the best, I have the CW version of that with a wide colour gamut that was only sold in S panel and its a great monitor

I think you would be very happy with that. I have the 24in Samsung very pleased with it but it does take up a lot of room

Bought it 2 mins ago.delivery Monday  there seems to be a concesus and It looks really nice and also I should see a big improvement.

Since I have been glaring at this one on white backgrounds my eyes really get a sort of snowblindess and I have to leave it for 15 minutes..I wondered if the monitor was the cause,had not made the link until today.   

Really appreciate all your comments and will let you know on Monday..

Maybe you need to tweak the setup, David. The Eizo I use has several user-defined modes. I have a 'full on' one when working with graphics, but a softer (less bright) setting for text work.

Just be careful cleaning the piano black finish, it can scratch very easily, really do follow the instructions and use the little cloth

I will pick your barins on this on Monday when the new one arrives but its only on white backgrounds for periods of time,this background will get me if I look too long at it.

The Eizo simply has a mode function via the front buttons. Once set up, you can step through them.

In the light of this knewly aquired knowledge this resolution isnt that good......just took what the sales man gave me...................it wass my first buy though

The Samsung has presets which are easy  to swap around David, the menu is not really intuitive but between the Samsung owners you will be fine as to advise, I used a calibrator to set mine up, the brightness was alarming for anything except photoshop work out of the box
