Well I had plenty of practice Rik, I used to work for Samsung Electronics in the PC Monitor Division lol.

Rik

Citylink are good for me, David. I think with all carriers, it depends on your local depot. UPS, for example, are rubbish here. We await further bulletins! :)

So True.......wonder how many people put as much into choosing a monitor when buying though?ok most buy the package but many do as I have done get the base unit ,then pick a monitor.in my case without even learning the basics of either the pc or monitor and the speed that this technology changes its easy to overlook these things.....in my case overclock  (took my time there, didnt want any spelling errors  ;)

A good monitor is vital if you spend any amount of time at the PC. A bit like a good mouse and keyboard.

Strongly agree with what Rik said.

David

I have learned a lot over the past year, wish I had armed myself with all of this before I even thought of switching  on let alone buying one

OTOH, until you start using one, David, you aren't in touch with other people's experience and advice. We all have to make a few mistakes along the way. :)

Thats how I have viewed it all,the best way to learn is by experience, mistakes are a must or you will have learned nothing.

Hence the posting.I thought Im going to get a monitor, had walked the shops looked on the net, even marked some off,but would do nothing before finding out from people I trust who have all been here and may be able to steer me in the right direction,(with a few added laughs) and it proved the right choice
I had one in mind.and without posting would have bought it.

In the event I did not get that one.but I learned how and when to calibrate, what the numbers meant on the screen a good level of resolution....none of this would be possible standing in PC world looking at a box and hoping I picked the correct Monitor.....I did choose the right one,had a few laughs, saved some money and learned a load...................Priceless  ;)

Get a Samsung 22inch monitor, the new ones are all DHCP compliant and if you find a 24inch for a great price grab it :)

Don't you mean HDCP compliant, I've never known a monitor request an IP address ;D
