Rik

Only one is needed, David. You could connect both and switch between them to see which looks better, but as that will be the DVI, it's not worth it. ;)

Rik

You won't need to, Windows will be able to run the monitor with a native driver. You may want to try the Samsung one, or stay with the native version. Was it Gary who said the Samsung one was buggy?

I knew I'd read something about it... Sounds like Adobe may have been cheating again then. :(

Was the other monitor connected on the D-sub (blue cable), David? DVI alone improves picture quality massively. Glad you like it.  :thumb:

Yes it was Rik but this has instantly remedied it,I did think there was a fault,

Everything is so large clear and bright I am amazed its a brilliant monitor and Im so pleased I chose Samsung.

I have looked into the menu and see that it is set at 95 contrast with 75 brightness,so will try out the 35 you mentioned on the earlier posts, cant wait to see what my photos look like.

I'd leave it at the default values for a while, David, and see how you get on with it.

I'm very surprised at this, I've ordered loads of components from Overclockers and every time it has been delivered on the day / specified time.  The delivery service is usually spot on.

Glad you got the monitor though David, take some pics please :)

I might be in the market for a new one soon

Well Vitriol its up and running I was a little over awed with it as its like nothing I have ever had,I am so pleased with it,picture is just perfect, stable and quality is amazing and I dont use this word lightly, have not used the Samsung drivers, cant see how I could better this, its the best spend for a long while and as this pc is new it really does it justice....if you do get a new monitor this would have to be at the top when you decide.... :thumb:

I couldnt have reached this without the help of everyone,it sure pays to listen thanks guys. :thnks:

On another note Rik since I configured the other monitor I had no vision problems so a cautionary tale for others who may experience similar issues.it was worrying to be honest and I think I was burning my eyes staring into it at close range too.but have not had this problem since I configured it and of course that is upstairs now...but another lesson learned  :thumb:

I usually give a new monitor a day or two, so that I acclimatise (and the monitor settles). After that, I'll calibrate, but the monitor needs to have been on for more than an hour when you do, never calibrate a monitor 'cold'. :)
