Hello all,
Son of Mohux here and a new member of the IDNET clan ;D.
It has been a few weeks since I have migrated from Eclipse and let me start by saying I am more than happy with the results, after struggling to achieve a 1 meg connection for over 6 months, you can see below my connection speed is now VERY satisfactory. I have a query regarding INTERLEAVING and how easy it is to request that it be turned off?. I understand it could raise possible sync issues but am I likely to see a drop in speeds as well?. The primary role of my PC is gameplay so pings are critical and although my connection speed is top notch my pings are near double what I am used too!.
My wish would be to have INTERLEAVING disabled for a trial period to weigh up the pro's and con's, can I request that here?.
Thanks for any help you can give and would appreciate remarks from anybody else who has disabled it, and the effect on line speed!.
Regards

Rik

Welcome to wonderland. Give CS a ring re. interleaving. They can request that it be turned off. In theory, you should see a speed improvement, but theory and practice aren't always the same, it depends on how stable your line remains.

With those stats, you ought to be synching at the maximum rate anyway I'd have thought.
Your rate should go up and your SNR margin down to 6, which is the Max target.

Furthermore, with interleaving off, the lack of duplicated sending/receiving should give you a faster rate, and there's no reason to believe it won't hold - on your figures.

But it might not.

As you say, you've nothing to lose by trying it.

Ring CS and try it.

I had it turned off and my pings dropped from 50+ to 30ms.

So those would be pings that go bump in the night? :out:

Good advice, 'cept don't confuse SNR and SNR Margin.
6 to 10 (or whatever number BT decide) is the required SNR target.
SNR MARGIN is your reading OVER the target.

Some routers/monitor prog's read SNR, most show SNR margin.

;)

P.S. Welcome Son!!  Not sure I like the Son of Mohux bit tho'!! Makes you sound like a race-horse!  :D  Hey! I could have claimed a referral for you ............ *!?*!

Wow, processed within 24 hours, now thats what I call service  :o.

Thanks everyone for the response and the welcome, I will let you know the outcome soon!!.
As gamers will know a drop of 20 or more on your ping is significant so heres hoping.

p.s. Pops, have you already been and done it

I'd like to optimise for pings too. Do let us know how you get on Jnr.

Oh and welcome to the fold. :)
