El Reg is reporting that the two companies are to increase prices due to the fall in value of the pound against the dollar. The strange thing is, I don't remember them reducing prices when the £ rose against the $.

It's a similar situation with petrol; we see prices shoot up, but they take a long time to come down. :rant2:

Unfortunately it's all just an excuse to get more out of us poor saps  :shake:

If they become uncompetitve compared to other manufactures then they might find that sales will drop and they'll then be offering discounts on them. With the foreseeable financial situation I would expect prices of many things to drop in order for manufacturers to maintain sales.

It will be interesting to see, John. One possible scenario is a squeezing of retailers' margins, I suppose. Particularly if Dell, Lenovo etc follow suit.

good job i got my monitor when i did then.. £420 now, dont wanna think what it'll go up to :-\

Sebby

You mean the price has gone up since you ordered it a few days ago? ???

not on the site i got it from but it has on others and one site is reporting a possible £90 increase.. so £470+90 = £560.. Quite a big jump tbh.

There is a post on hotukdeals, saying that Monday will mark a price rise for goods priced in US$ imported into the UK.
