What a splendid idea for the old PC,after all the trial is free for 120 days.No more worrying about backups of the new PC or daughters laptop .Got to be worth a try ;D

Definitely, Steve. That machine would need a UPS too, of course.  >:D

All the best, Philip. :fingers:

Rik

Is that all, Seb? Can you not find something else for Philip to spend money on?? Where is your sense of tradition. ;D

Having just looked again at the spec I see its only got 2Gb of memory.I think from my experience 2Gb is a bare minimum for Vista, a relatively cheap upgrade to 4Gb (only 3Gb usable) will provide you with a much more responsive OS and less hard drive activity.

Or, for an equally cheap option, put XP on it!  :)

The additional memory, if they've use 2x1Gb and 2 spare slots are available should only be about £30-£35.

:D The best £85 I've spent for a while, Rik, it's saved me once already when I had the faulty Memory modules, it just does what it says on the tin.  :) :thumb:

Whilst we are talking money and new PC and WHS, my perfectdisk 2008 trial for the WHS finished today so I splashed out on a site licence and got a nice little discount using PD2008-MCT25 I presume it will work with any of their products?

Dangerjunkie

If you're not too far away I could come round and put Linux on the old machine and a copy of Samba. That will give you a file server for n'owt :)

Cheers,
Paul.

Rik

Go left a couple or three counties, Paul. ;)

New, can't believe how quiet it is compared to the old one. Keyboard and mouse are rubbish so I'll be putting the old ones on soon :thumb:

Rik

When's the Eizo arriving? ;D :out:
