 :o :o :o :o :o :o

yes.......dont believe it myself but had a drop yesterday for about 5 mins at around 3.00pm ish.

anyone else ???

Rik

I've seen a handful of reports, ge Noreen yesterday, Baz, and have experienced it myself (though not today). In my case it was BT engineers just up the road and improved my line stats, so I can live with it. :)

yeah me too  was surprised thats all. didnt want to kick up a fuss me been a newbie  ;)   just wondered if it was my side or not.

Rik

If a router drops sync, Baz, it's always something to do with the exchange, the cable to you or your own setup. If the PPP session drops, but not sync, then it may be an IDNet issue.

Looks like I've had a disconection today, as well my WAN uptime is only showing 3 hrs. 27 mins.  ???

Could be, Rik, BT have had a box attached to one of their poles just down the road from me for several weeks, presumably monitoring something, I've noticed this afternoon it's been removed.

I have been on all day....nothing here  ???

Ann

I lost ppp at just past noon too.  I didn't notice it but it says so in the log.

petethegeek

LCP (momentarily) down here @ 13:53 GMT. (Sounds almost like an electronic Mexican wave travelling through the BT network to me.)

Connection is dropping quite a bit today and over the past few days.

SNR Margin

:7.0    15.0    db

Line Attenuation

:44.5    31.0    db

Stats seem decent to me (the untrained eye).

Any chance this is down to IDnet?

Thanks,

ron

Similar to Ann in that mine dropped for 15 seconds today at noon, but I only know because I checked my logs (after reading this thread).

If it's the PPP session dropping, then it will probably be outside of IDNet's network, though not for certain. If it's your sync dropping, this won't be to do with IDNet.

That's a sync loss, Baz. Local noise, work at the exchange or on the cables.

Losing both ADSL & PPP.

So that's not IDnet?  Then who can point the finger at because I really need someone to blame for this.  It needs to get fixed.  My line stats don't appear to be that bad.  I had a BT engineer out a few month back that pretty much ruled out any problems with my house and installed a new faceplate for the phone line.

Have you contacted IDNet?  That would be the best thing to do, so they can help you directly.

If you lose sync, you'll lose PPP as a result. This won't be down to IDNet.

It could be a line problem or equipment. Have you tried your router in the test socket?

neocr0n

It's not a problem in my house.  I had a BT technician out a few months back testing everything out.  New telephone socket faceplate etc.  Has to be a line problem but this has been going on a while for me.  If IDnet don't sort it out then who does?

Well, that's the problem, this is one for BT, but if they don't find a fault (which is likely) they'll charge you.

My advice would be to contact BT faults and tell them that you get intermittent crosstalk (important that it's "intermittent" because it won't necessarily be there when the engineer comes round ;)). BT's fix for this seems to be to swap you to a new pair, which can sometimes cure ADSL problems.
