Application not found when I get mail from here

When I click on the link for IDnets forum...I just get a message,as in title?I know its this machine but is there anything I can do to rectify the problem.
I am intending to restore the machine to factory settings over the weekend,to see if I cant iron out a few glitches.....anyway as the text is very large despite all the usual things I will go back on the laptop but I am just backing all the stuff up on this one before resetting it.I did make recovery discs so with luck I will be able to sort it.....

Is this a desktop shortcut or browser link?If text is large try changing the screen resolution.

Sorry, David, I'm not with you. Is this in the browser titlebar when you click on a link to come to the forum? If so, what is the URL you are using?

No Rick on my Email page when I recieve a reply to a post or notification that a post I am watching etc

So, this affects mail coming from the forum, and not from anywhere else? What email client are you using?

Just tried other mail and its fine but I think its this end not IDnets.is fine on the lap top,hopefully setting this machine up tomorrow will solve a few issues

You may just need to clear your browser cache (although I'm not sure I completely understand your issue). ???

Thanks Sebby, Im good at not making a point,when I click on the link I just get a message "Application cannot be found" but only on the desk top not this one,which would point to the desktop PC .

I have switched over now to the lap top..................

It sounds like an application association problem to me. Somewhere in your mail program or "windows" there will be a "preferred application" section or something like.
You will need to tell it which email client you use and which Browser to open when you click a link, it looks to me as if its set to "no" program or one that you don't have installed.

Not sure where to look in windows but i'll have a poke around.

Or perhaps someone else will know. Or i could be completely wrong, but that's the way it works on my system and i do seem to remember something like this in windows.  :fingers:

Right, it sounds to me like Windows Live Mail hasn't got a default browser set to follow links with, or your browser isn't set as default itself, David.  I'm not sure which browser you're using, but if you go through the Options, there should be a fairly obvious button somewhere to set the browser as default, and hopefully that should do it.  Otherwise, it may be a similar setting in WLM somewhere.  Ted's link should also help.
