Mail attachment size limits?

Is there a limit on the size of attachments sent to idnet.com mail users?

The reason I ask is that I just sent a msg with a 9Mb attachment, which seems to have gone AWOL.

Maximum msg size is set to 99999k in the cpanel, so I imagine that would include attachments.

I've tried whitelisting the 'from' address to see if that overrides the max msg size.

Do greylisted msgs clear themselves or would the recipient need to get support to release it?

As I understand it, greylisted messages should eventually filter through, although one recently took about 7 hours for me.

Who, me? It was an incoming message to my idnet.com address. Can't remember the details now, it was a few weeks back.

That's OK

The msg I sent was to an idnet.com address. As I said I added my address to the recipient's whitelist (don't ask), although I've not know anything get caught until now.

It does sound like greylisting, in that case. It's worth letting IDNet know as they can tweak it.

Thanks Seb. I got the automatic rejection email this morning which said it was due to the size rather than greylisted as potential spam The attachment was approx 9Mb, which I imagine is borderline. (<9999K limit).

It should take 10MB, Tac, but as the attachment is sent ASCII encoded, a file may grow in size from it's 'on disk' state.

It was actually around 9Mb 'as sent'. Phoned iDNet who said that large attachments sometimes, though not always, got caught in the mail filters. Not sure who it was, but they suggested using a service such as putfile.com

Since these are mainly photo files intended for printing, I think it easier to create an FTP account on my domain server and let my niece download them from there. Since anonymous ftp is banned, it shouldn't be a major problem.

In August, I asked what was the maximum size limit for a attachment on an email being sent from @idnet.com to an external address and this was the reply I got:
