Can anybody reach the site www.virtualbox.org ?

To me via IDNet it says connection refused.

If anyone has access to another ISP, perhaps via work, could you check if the site is accepting connections.

Thanks Rik. Maybe it was just down for a spot of maintenance. Definitely 'connection refused' according to the FF3 window. All OK now though.

Maybe so. I'm back in UK until 16th November. Pretty cold here but the weather in Spain isn't a lot better atm. 11C forecast for Sunday night. That's cold in a house without cavity walls and central heating. Brrrr!

Fortunately the house doesn't suffer from any dampness, so when we are back in UK there is no need to leave any heating on in Spain during winter. We have a large fitted AC in the lounge. It uses a heat exchanger so can be used to cool in summer and heat in winter. It is very efficient and forces warm air out at a great rate. Due to the design it is supposed to be one of the least expensive means of heating over there. We also have a fitted gas coal effect fire and a portable gas heater that we wheel into the study when it is very cold.

Only problem is that we are conscious that the heat goes out of the walls and roof very quickly and despite what many people think, gas and electricity are not really cheap in Spain.

Just noticed In's posting whilst I am typing. He's right. Our plans are not to spend that much time there in winter. This will be our last trip until spring.

And yes it has been wet there whilst we have been back in UK.

Ditto, I have cut back on my winter trips, it just isn't as warm/dry as it used to be.

I use oil filled radiators with portable calor gas as a back - up, not that cheap as you say.
