DAB Badboy

I have just received an email purporting to be from Cahoot asking me to confirm my account details.

Given that I don't (and never have) had an account with Cahoot I forwarded a copy of the email to Cahoot asking them to clarify the situation.

Their reply (as expected) confirmed that the email concerned was NOT from them and was fraudulent.

It is unlikely that I was singled out for this treatment, so I would expect other ID Net customers would probably also receive this Phising nonesense ....

Rik

Thanks for the headsup, DAB.  :thumb:

Thanks DAB!

I often get these at work for my non-existent Abbey account.  :thumbd:

Thanks Dab.

I do have a Cahoot Account, but I never open any mail that is seemingly from any bank.

I always feel that sentence at the end which says "If you're not a customer, please ignore this" is a bit of a giveaway. ;D

I've got a Cahoot account as well, I've just received this particular email, it went straight into the junk mail folder. I frequently get ones for other banks as well, anything purporting to come from a bank asking me to confirm my details gets binned straight away.

Quite right too, to quote from Cahoot's reply to me (just for the record):

"Important - FRAUDULENT EMAILS

We would like to confirm that cahoot does not send any emails to customers requesting their security details or any other confidential information.
If you are concerned that you may have disclosed any confidential information, or have any queries about security, please click on 'contact us' once you have logged in. "

Nor do I.

All the financial accounts I have use perfectly good messaging facilities after I log in. They specifically state that they will never use email for anything other than information (adverts).

I wonder how many people do get sucked in? There must be lots and it's a shame they are not more computer 'savvy'.

It is, and to an extent these are the people who endanger the rest of us, JB, by picking up and transmitting 'nasties'. :(

Glenn

I got one from UPS this week saying they couldn't deliver, which is correct as I hadn't ordered anything.

I have so many 'accounts', I've lost track of them all, but I wish they would all start paying me interest!  ;D
