I don't know why they had to change the file formats with FF3.  It was so easy before, as you could just copy and paste stuff from one profile to another.  :dunno:

There must be a reason. Mozilla don't strike me as the kind of developer that changes things for the sake of it, though software developers do tend to be unpredictable. :P

Rik

Improved security, at a guess?

Yep, most probably. :)

Are you still running FF2, out of interest, Rik?

Rik

Yup. I guess I'll have to make the move soon. :)

I think you should. The time feels right. ;)

Rik

Is the consensus to install over or go for a separate install, btw?

IIRC, I just installed over the top and had no issues. :)

If you overlay it on top of FF2, it will import all your settings.  :)

Plus, knowing you Rik, if it goes wrong you can simply revert to one of your numerous back-ups!

A word of warning if you are using the Yahoo Toolbar Add in on Firefox 3 don't install the latest update to the Add in it crashes Firefox on start up.

Shouldn't that be, "a word of warning if you're using the Yahoo Toolbar: don't!" ;D :out:

Rik

 ;D

Good point, Seb. :)

I don't usually, Sebby, I'd tried it in the past and disabled it, but it got it's self on a list of updates when I started Firefox this morning and I'd hit the update button before I'd noticed it lurking at the end of the list. It won't bother me again it's now been un-installed.  ;)

I think we've all been there, Ray, some apps are very persistent. :(

So come on Rik, have you taken the FF3 plunge yet? it really is quite pain free.

No, I've been busy with new toothbrushes and bread machine this morning. :) I'll probably do the notebook later, or Wednesday.  ;)
