I'm wondering whether it set it's own internal font previously and has now moved to picking up the system font?

I think it did, in that it looked the same, but it seems to be an issue with font encoding. Google has a lot on the subject, but no obvious solutions. It's simply a case of it handling the ellipsis differently for some reason. The font I was using didn't have one, so FF2 was creating it or getting it elsewhere, while FF3 doesn't.
