Have sony 32D 3000 HDTV with all suitable inputs.

Considering this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/792568#productInformationSection

Q. If I d/l a hd movie straight to the Iomega drive will I be able to view the resultant file in HD on the sony tv.
Reasoning, will obviate the necessity to purchase a dvd HD player!

Unless I'm reading it wrong, Rick, it doesn't have HD output. :(

Tks for your replies. Looks like this one goes out the window as I already have an upscaling dvd player so, has anyone made one yet that doesn't lie about the specs.??

Ooops Rik. Looks like an upscaling job again. Quote:HDD multimedia center using one user installed 3.5 Inch IDE hard drive (up to 500GB max) for playing digital media files on your choice of screens and including the ability to upscale to high definition HDTV. Unquote.

Rik

I found the wording a bit ambiguous, and couldn't decide. :(

I think that's another upscaler.

Have a look at Apple TV, there also a few HD media players such as by D-Link ,Netgear,Xbox 360,PS3 and Zyxel but they all rely on a PC/Server solution streaming though an ethernet/wifi? connection.

You can use something like Divx HD codec

I just use a WHS and mpeg2 via homeplugs to xbox360 or PS3, not upgraded the network to cope with HD yet

I guess that what I'm looking for doesn't actually exist as yet. Not prepared to buy a dedicated HD player/recorder  as I have the feeling that they won't be around for long before some revised specs and, like all newish technology, they cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks again for all your help guys.

I suppose Apple TV is the nearest and may do the job. What about  this or the D-Link will play from the USB port
