Whats this one like

it does vary as it was 30,000 this morning I suppose it all depends on the amount of traffic the isp is handling at what time of day. This was taken at 2000 on the 30.1.09

Steve

I think its difficult to take any of them at face value, but I know my result is physically impossible on adsl

I'm afraid Phil that is impossible. The maximum throughput on a 'up to' 8mb BT line is approx 7000-7100 depending on overheads. As for ISP contention, there isn't any at the moment with IDNet. Earlier today they had two new centrals go live which provide a significant boost to the capacity. You may, however, still experience local exchange congestion which is entirely down to underinvestment from BT.

I was with NTL at one time.. we don't have cable in this area but it still seemed to work..  ;D

Glenn

NTL tried to sell me 20mb boardband, I ask how, they said because their system told them I could have the service. When I asked were they going to lay the fibre cable in my road, we don't need to sir, it's there already was the reply. The housing estate I live on had a court injunction against laying cable services when it was built around 30 years ago :eek4:

I'd be tempted to sign up for the service and sue them for not then providing the service!

My download speed has been reduced alot with my line problems on going :(

thesaint

The only problem Ive had with ntl was trying to get them to take my old tv box back, it took about three months for them to come and pick it up. They sometimes ring me up offering to let me have the new model for free they say but it would cost me £10 to have it delivered so I stick two fingers up at them but ive had no problems with my broadband connection. I didnt think it was that fast either but ive just changed my router to a pre N from buffalo and it has made a big difference from the previous one.

Rik

Is the new one mozarella topped, Phil. ;D (We like to get food mentioned as early as possible in any thread. :))
