Hello.

After weeks of problems with orange (at peak times) i'm now looking for a new ISP.

However,i have a few questions before i make the switch.

1.Does IDnet work hassle free with the xbox 360 (xboxlive) & Playstation 3 (PS Network)?

This is important because i'm an avid gamer online..Does anyone on these forums use both consoles with IDNet?

2.Can i use my own router with IDNet's broadband?.....I use a netgear DG834G at the moment.

3.And finally...Does Idnet accept orange MAC codes?

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

I dont game Colin..but you can use your own router...cant answer the mac question either but it wont be long....good choice  :thumb:

This is hassle free as a rule......believe me I was once with Tisca........

Hi Colin and welcome to the forum. :welc: :karma:

I'm no help on matters gaming, but others will be along shortly. You'll have no problems with an Orange MAC, IDNet accept both BT Wholesale MACs and LLU ones (at no charge). Your Netgear will be just fine, and we'll be able to help with any setup queries you may have.

You get free web space, blog space and photo album with the account and unlimited @idnet.com email addresses. All of these can be set up and used as soon as your account is opened, before you migrate. :)

Hi Colin, welcome to the forum. Have a karma to get you started!

As for your questions, I don't game but yes you can use your own router and yes the orange MACs are accepted.

Hope this helps :)

What do you expect Rik.  This forum is full of old age pensioners.  ;)

Hi

welcome to our forum, as you see everyone here is very friendly.

With IDNet all the ports and protocols are open and all are unrestricted, so you will have no problems with your gaming.

There is only one simple proviso about an IDNet internet connection - there is a download allowance with every package and if you exceed it you will be charged £1 per Gb.

So simple that it all works just perfectly.

Come on in, the water is lovely.

Hi Colin,  can help maybe with a couple of your questions.
Yes it works with the PS3. my son has one and we have just tried again to set it up as it was very bad getting it to work with my last ISP. Tried again recently and got it going  :D its not perfect as we have it wireless but its working.

Sorry to the others here forgot to mention this about getting it working......... well done IDNet came good again :thumb:

I also have a Netgear DG834PN which has been no bother at all.

Hi Colin,

I can confirm that

IDNet works great for Xbox Live

You can indeed use your own router, I use a Netgear DG834GT.

No problems what so ever.

See you on IDNet soon then :)

Simon

Hi Colin, can't add to the above, but  :welc:

Hey there

I game on PS3 and PC and idnet do deliver. Before changing my router i could get down to 15ms ping on counter strike source and 30ms being the norm. Unfortunately changing my router "hid" these servers from me  ???

PS3 gaming is reliable and hosting games on my ps3 rather than others produces much better performance

Updates on my ps3 take about 1/4 of the time at least than updates on my mates BT connection
