Just been to check my broadband usage on the IDNet page and it came up with the error that it could not verify the certificate "for unknown reasons".
I notice that the cert is just issued today, so there may be a problem with it.

Just ignored the message of course, but IDNet may want to look at it.

You aint wrong Nerval, it's my payment day today, so I had cause to look in..

No, still needs fixing here.
Perhaps your security is at fault Rik?

Rik

Curiously, I got the error message just now, but not earlier... Puzzling. Maybe it's related to the great 1&1 email server crash? :)

15.37HRS.............tried with 2 browsers on Linux box and error is still present.

Rik

I've spoken to Andrew and emailed him a number of JPEGs of what I'm seeing. Ironically, I couldn't use the IDNet smtp server, it timed out, my 1&1 accounts are all screwed at the moment, so I had to fall back to my Gmail account.

The world's collapsing!  ::)

The certificate or the email? I started off with it working when others had problems, now I have a problem, so it would appear to be something odd going on...

Maybe the web is about to implode? :)

I was talking about the Certificate Rik, though I've just done a test message to my idnet email addy and received it back in less than minute.

I've just checked the certificate again, it's been changed and now runs from 06/02/2006, rather than the one we were seeing earlier which was valid from today. Curious...

As to SMTP, it's now not timing out, but I haven't received the test mails I sent (various other accounts).

I'm feeling paranoid. :)

Update on this:

I've spoken to Adam, the certificate has been changed back, the new one is apparently 'not ready' in some way, despite the date (I even allowed for any US offset, though it stated GMT in the details).

As to the mail, I'm experiencing about a 40 minute delay on mail going from IDNet's SMTP server to Google, that includes notifications from this board.

Bill Ford reports, over on TB, that he has spoken to Simon and that the SMTP servers are OK but IDNet has been hit by large quantities of spam since Friday, which may explain the delay?

Mine are going to / from Hotmail via OE in seconds Rik, is the delay possibly at Google ?

I find gmail is a bit slower than idnetmail in general when sending and recieving from Outlook Express

Rik

Sorry, late on line today - I have a bug which has rendered me total jelly. That would be a jelly bean then. :)

It could be a delay with Google, I didn't get around to trying my other email addresses yesterday, I was spending too much time lambasting 1&1!

(Odd thing, the Firefox dictionary highlights both Google and Firefox as spelling errors. You'd have thought they would have covered them...)

Is that you as in personally, or you as in your computer (which sounded in a worse state than you, yesterday)?
In either case, the actual diagnosis and treatment are required lol

Rik

Me personally. The computer was, and is so far, OK, but the 'net and me were definitely not getting on yesterday.
