El Reg are advising of an unpatched security issue with IE 7, the BBC recommends the use of alternative browsers until a fix is issued

Thanks for the heads up, Alan.

Its easy to say that, but I changed to Opera a while back and found too many sites that were not compatible with it, especially when it came to trying to book flights and pay for insurance etc online.

There are still too many web designers that don't test their sites against all these other browsers, so people like me end up sticking with IE, purley because it works, not because its better.

I've never met a site that wouldn't work with Firefox, but I take your point. Sites should work to web standards not MS standards.

The only one that will not work with FF for me is, wait for it ....MS Updates. ;D

I think it does if you add the IE plugin, In, but I actually do use IE for that one day each month. :)

The problem is, because IE doesn't conform to standards, developers actually have to make adjustments so that the site looks as it should in IE. :(
