Sending email using Outlook Express via alternative connections

A while back similar threads, http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=3941.0 and http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=9478.0, showed how to use outgoing mail server authentication to send IDNET email using Outlook Express when connected to another ISP, and how to use IDNET to relay email to other ISPs

What I did not appreciate until today, thanks to help from Andrew in tech support, is that authentication is required when sending IDNET email on IDNET servers via IDNET Dial-up. This is not true for all dial up providers, but it seems like good practice.

I probably should have known this, but anyway I thought I would share my discovery with others who may not appreciate this point either, and who like me, sometimes use dial-up in areas without broadband. Sadly this covers large chunks of Scotland, thanks to BT and the mobile providers, who think all we need here is carrier pigeons! 

Now where is that corn?

Just a small point on this very minor issue, comparing IDNET support with my last, very large, ISP.

(a) UK based IDNET support responded to my email next working day.
(b) The reply was not from an auto-responder or a scripted answer.
(c) Support clearly understood the problem in the first exposition.
(d) Andrew resolved the difficulty within 1 hour of first response.
(e) It cost me nothing.
(f) I am impressed.

Real terms or not, a friendly tone seems to be the norm here.

I am neither a fan nor a boy.what I am however is a very satisfied customer of a first rate isp and I am not afraid to say so.

Idnet does let me down in these areas.

It has failed badly when it comes to washing my car,repainting my doors and giving help with retiling of the bathroom,but hey thats what Im on here for.......

Oh yes and the company of all the members of this forum,for their friendship and good sense of houmour.

If its wrong I will say so but if its right then......there is no need for anything really except to think up more horrid puns....... >:D ;)

It is, Dave, we praise highly when praise is due (which is most of the time), but if they screw up, we let them know about it!  ;)

Sorry, Sebby, I am being obtuse. I was trying to suggest I do not care for the term fanboy generally, which is rarely used here and that is a good thing. I prefer reasoned counter argument over labelling.

It was a joke.. hence the pile of smileys.. but then I s'pose you won't have got the joke unless you've been to the other place where everyone calls anyone who says anything nice at all about an ISP, a fanboy..
