Hi there!

Some may remember I had a thread about my rubbish internet speeds and how I was trying to get BT to replace the line.  Well they finally came out about 2 days ago and put in a whole new line!  Yey!!

However, I have two questions.

1. My line has been sync'd at 1.8mb for about 2 days now.  Yet the internet is still painfully slow.  Download speeds are like 10KB/s?  Which is really odd.  Why has it not increased yet?  The line seems nice and stable now.

2. Whilst the Engineer's were doing the work, my "Training History graph" under the \tech part of the 2-Wire router shows everything in the past few days as 0 (Zero's).  Obviously as they were working on the line.  However, two entries I find odd.

Usually the "Mode" is G.DMT Annex A.  I have two entries though for G.DMT2+.... and the sync speed is over 3Mb!!!!  Wow.  Then, the next entry is my current speed as it stands at the moment.  1.8Mb and back to showing as G.DMT.

So where did this G.DMT2+ come from, and why has it gone?  Also, it clearly shows that the line (perhaps during testing?) can do 3Mb.  Yet I'm back at 1.8Mb.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Hi Jimbo

Can you do a BT speed test, that might tell us what's happening (profile issues being the most obvious thought).

As to (2), the only thing I can think is that they mistakenly connected you to WBC equipment.

As Rik says, it could be a profile issue. My guess is that you've got a 135k profile, but that would probably point to instability, which isn't what you want to hear when you have a new line!

As for the G.DMT2+ thing, I'm not sure what's gone on there...

Hi Guys.

Ah yes, good thinking.  Sorry I was in a rush yesterday and did not think to do that test.  Luckily, off work today, so here are the results:-

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 1664 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 120 kbps

I take it my profile is stuck or something?  Should I perhaps call IDNet today and have them reset it (if that's the correct lingo).  With having a new line I wonder if that would be best?

Thanks.

Hi Rik

What is WBC equipment?

:)

Rik

It's the new ADSL2+ service which BT is trying to rollout (and failing dismally in many cases :().

Ah, thanks for the info.  ;)  What do you think to my speed results as well mate?

Thanks.

Definite stuck profile, worth a chat with IDNet but they may be constrained by a 10 day training period.

Just spoke to a nice lady. :)  Apparently 3 days, so hopefully over the weekend it will improve.  :thumb:

If it doesn't shift, you can ask IDNet to get BT to reset it manually. :)

Mine took the "standard 10 days to release the stuck profile".

then they automatically stuck interleaving back on :(
