Using a free program called TVersity.  You do need the Nintendo Wii Internet Channel though (which costs 500 Wii points)

At the moment I am streaming my mp3 collection from the PC upstairs, through the wireless connection to the Wii in the lounge :)

I'm not I completely understand what it does, even after looking on their website!

All I did Sebby was install TVersity and the associated codecs, once done add some media folders i.e My Music

Find out the IP of the computer that is running the media server, open the Wii browser and type in for example

http://192.168.1.1:41952/flashlib

User interface appeared and now playing mp3's :)

before you splash out on the internet channel, I should warn you that Nintendo need to update their flash player.  The Wii's small amount of useable ram keeps filling up and throwing up some errors.  More investigation needed.

Works mint though with other computers / Xbox360 on the Network.

Tversity is a useful piece of software especially if you wish to transcode prior to streaming. It does mean however that it needs a decent cpu for the processing. I have used the flash player on the wii just to show it works and I agree the media player capabilities are limited compared to the PS3 and the xbox 360. I prefer to use Twonkymedia on a low power consumption WHS or NAS to stream natively to PS3 and/or xbox. Twonky will do sound and video. Also both devices can use WMP11 but the file type with standard codecs is more limited than with Tversity or Twonky. I have not yet tried the new version of Twonky yet as I have been busy messing around with slimserver (squeezecenter) on a WHS.

I have been using Tversity for awhile now to stream everything to my ps3. Don't download RC5 some thing's wrong with it. Use RC4 instead. Tversity ,Vlc player and Sopcast work well to let me watch football through my ps3 not being shown on T.V in this country. Our league and I have to resort to getting a feed from the other side of the world so I can watch my team. I do love modern technology though.

Edit: link removed as legality questionable
