Having to use dial up... Unable to get out via my router today..
Have done a reset on Zyxel.. Disconnected firewall and still cannot connect, although I have all my green lights on the router itself.
Every time I try to connect I get...
Connection Interrupted
The document contains no data.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
.
Any hints/tips please to resolve..
.
Thanks
Alan

Can you borrow a router from anyone, Alan, or do you have a USB modem anywhere? If the lights are on, it sounds like the connection is OK.

Have you installed any new software?

Thanks for quick reply Rik... I was playing on line with PS3 last night. I did alter a couple of settings on the router but have done a full reset on it this morning so I would have thought it would have restored it to factory settings.. Perhaps I will scrounge a neighbours router and try that.

It's going to be a process of elimination, Alan, so if you can borrow a router, that would be a quick start.

Still no luck, even with another router...
Yes Sebby its in Firefox... Have even lost my internet light now.

Can you get into the router interface, Alan and extract any stats from it? Have you obtained any new electrical appliances, changed any phone wiring, eg new phone, or moved wiring. Is there a set of Xmas lights near the phone line or router?

I asked because I found this and wondered if perhaps it was Firefox to blame, rather than the router, but perhaps not. :-\

alan

No xmas lights.  Electrical/wiring nothing changed other than on the PS3 last night. Have uninstalled Firewall and tried it, still no joy. Have done loads of resets on router itself.. PWR light, Lan light and adsl light all showing green and with my fiddling have now lost the internet light. Although I had the internet light this morning I still couldnt connect. If you can follow.
.
No joy in IE either Sebby.

Do you have an NTE5 master socket, Alan, the type where the bottom part of the faceplate is detachable? If so, you you remove the faceplate and test in the socket which will be revealed when you do so. That will eliminate your internal phone wiring. Have you tried a different lead from router to phone socket?

Have got on of those fancy sockets what BT installed so nothing needs filtering in the house... I have not changed the lead but will now do so.
Alan

Rik

If it's not the lead, and you've tried two leads, then I'm afraid you'll have to call IDNet, Alan (though, if you do have a microfilter to hand, it would be worth whipping that filtered faceplate off and trying the test socket behind it). If you need to call 01462 476556 will take you straight through.

Thanks Rik... Replacement lead on now and still no good. Thanks for your efforts. I've had a belly full of this now. I will call support when they re-open tomorrow.
I wonder if it could be the exchange? I shall swear if it is.. Two of us been on this for several hours now.
Alan

Rik

They don't re-open intil January 5, Alan, use the emergency number I gave you, it's for use in cases like yours. :)

Always possible - my connection dropped for a couple of minutes yesterday and that was definitely a local thing.

:thumb: Well, who feels a bit of prat... Support got me going at 2000... I'd only been putting the wrong password in all the time.
I've no idea why I couldn't connect first thing this morning but with doing a factory reset on the router I wasnt making the connection with Id net. I thought I'd changed the original one Idnet had issued and replaced it with my own. Obviously not.
Thanks again Rik and Sebby. I've spent hours on this today. Something else learned.

I think we're all guilty of doing something like that. I'm glad it's sorted. :thumb:

Rik

Great news, Alan - I didn't even think of the password.
