seems like the audacity controls had overridden the main windows settings. dont know if this is right or just my system

Rik

Don't use it, sorry Baz. :(

well I was just trying it really as it was recommended. my son uses a prog called Ableton which is far too complicated for me.

actually Audacity is too  ;D ;D ;D

Rik

What do you want to do, Baz?

i think I got it originally just to try as you say, editting but he came across this Ableton and I just left it on the machine and was just looking at it then came across this sound problem. Not really set out to do anything apart from trying to get an intro from a song to put on the wifes phone as a ring tone. just messing about really

Rik

There is an editing module within Nero I think, but I've never used it. Creative Labs used to ship quite a good one, but they seem to have stopped doing so.

didnt know that about Nero might have a look. thats another prog I dont use much now too. have Ashampoo which is very good.

Rik

I've only left it there because I have it, Baz, it's got way too bloated over the years. :(

I think I still have Winamp too but havent used it for years  :D :D

Rik

Hard drives are big enough for them not to matter, I guess, Baz. It didn't use to be that way. :)

Try looking in Edit >Preferences >Audio I/O because Audacity's default settings assume you use Microsoft Sound Manager when you're probably not.
