While I was snooping around in my router management settings, I discovered this:

DSL           Down           Up
Current Rate:         8128 kbs         832 kbs
Max Rate:         9188 kbs         996 kbs
Current Connection:
Current Noise Margin:         9.0 dB         11.0 dB
Current Attenuation:         28.5 dB         15.5 dB
Current Output Power:         19.8 dBm         12.4 dBm

What does the Max Rate bit mean?

Also, I know it's not worth anything but bragging rights, but this is Colin's:

Current Rate:           8128 kbs           832 kbs
Max Rate:         9044 kbs         1112 kbs
Current Connection:
Current Noise Margin:         9.0 dB         15.0 dB
Current Attenuation:         24.4 dB         12.5 dB
Current Output Power:         19.8 dBm         12.4 dBm

So, who's line is better? :P

When the router was negotiating a new connection it was able to reach a sync rate of 9044, since the BT ADSL max is 8meg, that is what you ended up with.

To still have a SNR of 9 @ 8128 means you live in the exchange, possibly on the equipment rack ;D

dont matter i need the upload more than i need the down or can u not remember what my usage normaly looks like

g7pkf

with stats like that i would get interleaving switched off for sure (or at least ensure it is switched off)

look for interleaving off or something like DSL Channel: Fast.

if it says interleaving on ask support to get it turned off. (Bt leave it on as standard)

Danni

I'm pretty sure we've both done that- that's how we're getting the max sync :P

Yup- mine's off:
