Although I agree with Dean's comments, my feeling is the interleaving can be applied to your line in an indiscriminate fashion,it's taken me nearly a year to decide to have it removed, having being concerned about the potential loss of throughput. However so far so good. and download rates seem not to be affected.

It can indeed negatively impact throughput as errored packets will need to be re-sent. If there are a lot of errored packets, the absence of error correction can cause a loss of speed.
