My normal 6.5Mbps download speed has dropped over the last few days. Nothing has changed as far as the line goes my end. Notsure whats up.

Router - Connection details:
Downstream Rate:      8064 Kbps
Upstream Rate:     448 Kbps
Downstream Margin:     12 db
Upstream Margin:     27 db
Downstream Line Attenuation:     36
Upstream Line Attenuation:     18

It is usable, I know I have about 400kbps download, but feels like i've gone back to using dialup. Games it cannot kope with at all.

Can someone suggest what needs to be done, thanks.

Oh, and last nights speed test, Pings were high too:

I doubt anything needs to be done, but it would be worth checking your router stats. Particularly, note if you've had a number of re-syncs in the past few days, and look at how your error count is doing.

There's a fair chance, however, that it's related to the short-term capacity problems that IDNet have told us about, and will be cured when the new central comes on line. The other possibility is that your exchange is currently red (congested) and that you will have to wait for BT to put more capacity in place.

And while you're at it monkey, run the BT Speedtest.

This will tell you what your line is currently profiled at, as well as its sync speed.
If you had a sudden temporary drop in sync rate, it may well have adjusted your profile down, and this will tell you.  (In that case, it will go back up in not more than 3 days )

Copy and post the result on here for Rik to look at.

I'll let you look too Nerv, no charge! :)

Thanks, exchange status to currently showing as green, according to crapnet user tools.

BT Speed test:
IP profile for your line is - 500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  8064 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 440 kbps

So this is likely to be down to IDNet, any idea when this central line you mention will be up and running?

On another note, I was unable to run the BT Speed test using speedtest@speedtest_domain username, told me to change it to my ISP username, another post here says to use the one above.

That test suggests the problem is not related to IDNet, but that you have had one or more low sync events which have depressed your profile.

It might just be that you have a stuck profile, but unless it's been that way for three full days without your router re-synching, then I suspect you will have to sit it out.

If it does continue, you need to call CS and ask them to raise a stuck profile with BTw.
