The announcement seems to have come several hours after problems first arose?

If so, it might cause less frustration if precautionary announcements of upcoming work were posted. Just a simple there may be problems tomorrow.

Simon

Can't argue with that, Dave, although there is an announcement here.

In early days of TV you used to get a card saying "there is interference, please do not adjust your sets."

UPDATE:

I've had a chat with Simon, the update caused a problem meaning that all their routers had to be re-booted. This resulted in loss of connection to the world for most people, in some cases it involved a loss of PPP (me!). Things should be OK now, and Simon did not expect any repeats.

Me also, Rik, but I didn't notice it I was too busy eating my peppercorn ham sandwich at the time.  ;)

Announcements coming after I'm having problems don't help ;)

As I'd redone my port forwarding in the firewall before I left for college (I knew they'd be reset ;)) I knew that by the time I'd arrived (10.15am- I was very very lucky, as that was my lesson start time) my internet was working again, so it was fixed for me somewhere between 8.45am and 10.15am :)

PPP loss 13 minutes ! I wonder if that's related to yesterdays events?

Yeah me too (and yesterday, and a stale session on Monday: this has not been a good week for my connection!).

Simon

There seems to be a problem with one of the routers, which they are working on.

And me, rebooted the router, still a little slow but at least I can connect

Rik

An unexpected glitch as the new router was 'introduced' to the network, I gather.

I like that idea, except if there is no connection then it would be difficult to see the card. ;D
