I was thinking about resurrecting my 2 wire now I have got rid of interleaving,I think it will depend whether I have the stamina to setup all the port forwarding required for the various toys in the house, even then I am not sure whether I will be successful i.e did we answer the question as to whether Xbox live is available on the BT2700HGV? Anyway I came across this, its probably nothing to worry about unless your with BT but once you've got it you seem to be stuck with it

Very interesting - I haven't seen that mentioned before. It could spoil the fun for a lot of 2700 users. :(

Glenn

Mine still says the software version is 5.29.117.6

As ever an excellent read, good to see that it is still regularly updated.

Certainly worth keeping an eye on just in case that firmware spreads, I am not sure from the scream whether anyone's managed to unlock or flash v6 yet.

Is it worth making access via a sticky to the link Steve has found ?

Good find Steve.  :thumb:

Steve

I think all twin SSID BT2700HGV users should check this link soon,as all the hubs running firmware v5.29.117.6 are being upgraded by BT no matter to which ISP you are connected .This firmware has not yet been unlocked or downgraded. However one  person with Zen has managed to reconnect

May I suggest if your worried that its time to think whether the singtel firmware should be used.

It does seem apparent that previously configured v5s are not affected by the upgrade, but caution should certainly be advised when buying these off Ebay now.

I am not sure ? Simon as one Zen user has reported that he has been upgraded.

I could be wrong, but as I read it, and it is confusing, if you have a v5, and it's set up to use IDNet, for example, even if it updates, you can still use IDNet with the new software.  If you have a *new* v6, which has not previously been configured for another ISP, you may not be able to do so.  Don't take my word for it though!

I think your right in the fact that you can still use it with idnet, however to get at the settings i.e mtu etc it appears if I read it correctly you have to try to connect as BT business user with a "false" username and then it will allow you to change settings. It will be interesting to see if anyone @idnet gets upgraded.

OK, so do we have anyone with v6 that's able to use it with IDNet, and has anyone successfully flashed v6 with the Singtel firmware or does it just create a brick?

Latest information is that the new firmware works with other ISPs ok, thank you God

It appears that 2700HGV's with the BT v5.29.107.12 recovery firmware are not affected by this update and  some may prefer to put off the automatic update.

If you have carefully read the Tripod articles and want to install the recovery firmware to avoid this update, then entirely at your own risk ...................

The firmware can be downloaded from HERE and installed using this Router page

I am running this recovery firmware with no problems

What do you mean by 'recovery firmware', Alan?  Mine is 5.29.107.19, and there's no 'update' link on the Home page, so does that mean it's not likely to try to update?
