Any Nokia experts here?

I have a Nokia N82, which, I believe, is more or less the same internally, as the N95.  On the 'Desktop', it used to display Search: Internet and My Content, the WLAN Scan icon, and any upcoming calendar entries.  Suddenly, and for no reason I can think of, upcoming calendar entries are no longer displayed, and I only have the Search and WLAN Scan icons.  Calendar entries now only appear on the day of the event.  The only thing I've done is update the Nokia PC Suite software on my PC, which now contains Calendar sync, and it's since this update that this has occurred.  Does anyone else use the Nokia PC Suite with an 'N' family phone, and have you noticed the same thing happen?

No idea, Simon. This is one for a Nokia user. Anyone?

No idea but have you checked the "display settings" in Nokia PC suite I assuming they been transferred? I have an N75 hidden somewhere which had icons at the top and I do recall you could select the icons for display on the desktop in was it? active standby mode.

Yup, Active Standby Mode is it, Steve.  You can select the row of icons, but on the N82, you can't select what you actually have in the options below those, so I can't have switched it off, that's what's so weird!  I'll have to have a look in the PC Suite - can't remember seeing 'display settings' anywhere.

I wonder if you are getting a bit confused Simon with the different types of calendar entry? On my old n80 and my current n95 8gb the only entries displayed in advance are those entered as a meeting. Memos are only displayed on the actual day. Does that help?

I thought that too, Lance, but when there were no meetings imminent, it used to display 'No calendar entries today'.  Now, I don't even get that.  I have a 'meeting' entered for next Tuesday, so I'll see if it appears between now and then.

From memory meetings display a week in advance so you should be seeing it already. I think something must have thrown a wobbler as it should be displaying the no calendar entries today thing regardless of the meeting.

Yes, I think so too, Lance.  I also have a weekly memo to put the bin out, and although the alarm activated this morning, there was nothing on the standby screen, and it should have appeared.  Not sure what to do about this - I don't particularly want to reset it.  I've just tried resyncing the calendar with Outlook, as I used to before, but it hasn't rectified the issue.  I can't see what the Suite could have done to it.

What would be the problem with a reset?

Sorted!  I'd used the PC Suite to insert a calendar entry, and did it as a 'Reminder' instead of a 'Meeting', but it seems the N82 doesn't like that format, as I've now removed the entry, and all is back to normal.  Might drop Nokia a line and report this as a bug, as the PC software is supposed to be compatible with the phone.

Indeed!  I knew it must have been something to do with the suite, so I just retraced my steps.

Nokia never seem to have quite got the Suite together, it seems more of an afterthought than a serious piece of software.

It has it's uses, but could certainly benefit from some improvements.  For example, the phone book Export tool won't export multiple 'Mobile' or 'Telephone' numbers, or more than one email address under a single contact.  I'll stick to Outlook from now on for syncing.
