I have given my boat an unlucky sailing name 'Dead Albatross' Anything better than last place then I will consider myself lucky.

Leg 2 starts tomorrow morning, Cape Town - Cochin, it should take 20 - 25 days to complete. I am in a team of 6 competing in as 'Ericsson Sea Monkey's', one is a regular crewman on a racing yacht, another held a skippers licence, so we may have more of a chance than some, but I doubt that we will challenge the top boats.

12 days down approximately 3 - 4 days left to go and 900 miles. Out of 80,000+ boats entered I'm currently in 9069th place, but only 20 miles or so covers around 2000 boats.

It's virtually sunny and warm in Southern India, after 13 days 22 hours 0 minutes, my little yacht arrived in Cochin, in 8308th place, out of now 84357 boats (It increases everyday) The winner of each of the 10 legs gets a TNG watch for their efforts

Being under the weather this week helped my yacht into the top 1.5% of finishers for the 4th leg, Singapore - Qingdao. The 5th leg that starts mid February is a monster, 12,300nm mostly through the Pacific Ocean, then into the Southern Ocean, around Cape Horn finishing in Rio.

It's not many people who sail a yacht in your condition. ;)

2 of the real yachts had to retire with damage to their hulls, they were battered by 55kt winds (about 65mph) and massive waves

Started leg 5 today 12500nm, it should last 5 - 6 weeks. I'm not doing too bad overall, rated in the top 5000 out of 150,000 entries.

Of the 5 real yachts starting leg 5 (one yacht has still to reach Qingdao) one (the last leg winner) hit a submerged obstruction on the way out of the harbour, it's now winched out of the sea and is being inspected, they hope to restart tomorrow.
