Ray

I've just set up the public home page on my Windows Home Server here, I would be grateful if a few people could try to reach the page and check out the links on it to confirm that it is accessible from the web and everything works as it should.  :)

The link doesn't show up as I'm accessing through my phone, but someone else will be able to check. :)

Glenn

The picture of the 2 dogs takes a little while to load, the IDNetters link is not working :eek4: the 's' is missing ;) but otherwise it all works :thumb:

All OK here, Ray, but sluggish - though that could be my connection.

Steve

I think the sluggishness must have something to do with constraints of Ray's upload bandwidth, not managed to log on yet I presume you can hide that if you don't require remote web access.

I think you're probably right, Steve I did notice when I did a speed test a little while ago my upload speed was only around 270kbps it's normally 370kbps or thereabouts. Yes you can hide the logon button by editing the css for the page, I've still got to do that.

Edit: shouldn't be visible now.

It's a bit sluggish from my connection as well but that could be my connection. Other than that it's working fine although I can't find the dancing girls download folder  ??? ;D

Its no different than mine was when I tried it, As I understand it  ??? most web sites we visit just download the information whereas with the WHS the download comes out of the upstream bandwidth I presume with the routing via idnet and homeserver.com?

Ray

That sounds about right, Steve, it's got to be limited by your upstream bandwidth.

Lona

Lovely website Ray, but a bit sluggish to load pages.

Sebby

It was a little sluggish for me, but nothing major. I guess that's the way it's going to be as it's hosted off of a residential broadband connection.

Simon

I can't get it at all at the moment.  'Connection Interrupted' message.

Sorry, Simon, forgot to mention in my original post the server is only on line from 06:00 to 23:00.

You'll have to pay out for supermax, Ray, to get the higher upload bandwidth!

You're having a bad influence on your fellow Admin staff, Rik, I suppose you're getting Glenn trained in your spending ways now.  ;D

Nice work Ray, all looking good here, everything loads pretty quickly for me ;D

Small bug in the guest book page, if you click the "home" button, it returns an "address not found" error.

Yes, Rik, I don't know why they should rate it amber, I've been using the Bravenet Guest book for about 4 years and I've never seen any problems with it or the Bravenet web site. The only emails I receive from them are my monthly visitor statistics.

Yes I did, Rik, reading the McAfee site report they seem to be basing it on their user reviews of people complaining about spam and phishing but I've never received any spam/phishing attempts or had anything undesirable via the site.  ??? I think they get it wrong sometimes
