I have just suffered a brief loss of access to pop3.idnet.com and to the forum and http://www.idnet.net/

Anyone experienced anything similar at about 7:50 PM?  ???
Regards,

Les.

I've been getting it every night for the last few nights, 5 -15mins at a time.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

I had a dropped PPP (I think - I don't really understand the logs)  at 20:29, but not for the blip at 20:59.  Very weird.

This look the very same as the entry from my log Simon.

From the System Summary I can see that the router has been up for 8 hours.

Go here in your browser, Colin.  You'll need the router password.

As posted in the closed thread, we lost connectivity from the xbox and rebooted our WAG354G router to try and connect.

I probably reported the issue incorrectly in the other thread though.  The DSL light lit straight away, but it took 5 minutes for the internet light to come on.  I suspect this means it synced, but didn't enable the PPP session, but am more than willing to be corrected on that.

It's a single SSID one but I did a reboot myself just yesterday to try and sync above 3500 kbps to get another 500 kbps on my IP Profile but couldn't quite get there!. My firmware is the BT one, 5.29.107.19 and I thought this one didn't suffer the 300 hr reboot issue. I have seen thirty days in better times but they seem long gone now.  :(

apart from the blimp that made me start who "kicked the DNS server" ive not really had any problems and ive been doing a hell of alot of work tonight running round the net. and my router logs well they are about as helpful as a instruction manual with no writing in it

Colin Burns

well so much for not noticing problems had to say it couldnt get to idnetters but the rest of the net seemed fine.

Vodor

DNs dropped a few times for me this week, and about 3 times tonight. Changed to opendns again - doesn't really bother me what dns I use but annoying anyway.

Simon

Irritating indeed!  IDNet are investigating as we speak.  :)

Just had a DNS drop again. Anything I can do to help? My pings are normal.

Of course, if it gets too annoying, I'll swap to open dns :)

Use OpenDNS (which, imho, is better anyway). :)

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you swap?. I work from home and over the last 2 days browsing has been impossible, for the last 4 hours it has continually crashed out at virtually every site I visit!!.

Is openDNS just a case of assigning the dns servers rather than the generic " get automatically from isp " ?, if so can somebody confirm the primary and secondary dns servers?.

Joel

Im fed up now.

Download speeds so slow I cant watch youtube, and ping time to high heaven.

Im on the edge of a breakdown.

Thing is, I tried it at work and they are also pinging about 400 to london - BT having troubles????

Lance

Hi Joel. It could possibly be a BT issue but there are too many uncertainties at the moment. Certainly downloads and pings are generally fine now. Any idea what your router stats are?

It could also be the DNS, which IDNet have confirmed is having trouble. Try OpenDNS and see if that improves things.

Aaron

Can I use both IDNet and OpenDNS DNS servers? i.e. Primary DNS being IDNet and Secondary being OpenDNS. And does it look up DNS from secondary if the primary one fails to get an IP address of a website?

Ok I've done that on my router now, but https://www.opendns.com/start still shows broken images but that might be a problem on their end with 404 images. Did IP renew on my desktop and got

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 212.69.36.3
                                    208.67.222.222

which checks out good. I tried the signup feature on OpenDNS and it thinks I'm not using their servers though  ???

Sorry, I can't help with this, but I'm sure someone more technical than me will be out of their pit soon.  ;)

You may have to use both their servers Aaron, as if you arrive there through the IDNet server, it will think you're not using them.

As Rik said. I just put both Open dns server listing into the TCP/IPv4 properties of the network adaptor on the PC currently in use . Looks like you pick up idnet's first whilst its working with opendns as the fall back
