What Ann said, mynnydd. The 2700 seems to perform exceptionally well on long or noisy lines, as an example, when I switched, I gained 500k in speed and retain a connection for a month or more at a time, compared to the Netgear which had a 'personal best' of 12 days, but usually dropped every 3-4 days. Another good model for poor lines is the Speedtouch 585.

its got to be more than just the router though Rik hasnt it? I have never kept a record of uptime with my Netgear DG834PN but just had a look when I saw your post and its been ok for 839 hours which is nearly 35 days. sounds good to me and Ive had very little bother with it

It's always a router/line combo, Baz. What works well for one person can be a washout for another. Before I moved to Max, I used a Draytek router, which was rock steady. With Max, it became flaky and the Netgear was better. Along came the 2700 and things got better still.

When i had the 2700 on my long line it was fantastic, it just caused me issues with live messenger as I needed to port forward with no UPnP also that was a headache with other devices using UPnP, but it have me 1.5 meg more easily, on my present line I have no issues with The DG834N but I have a good quality short stable line, so the 2700 would be of no use. for those with long lines and snr issues its worth a try.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't
