Hi,
I've got one, had it 6 months. Email via the iPhone to my IdNet accounts has never been very good, but now seems useless. I've spent 3/4 of an hour trying to send one e mail this evening with no success.
I can send emails from one IdNet account to the other in under 2mins, but trying to send and email to a friend on abc.123@yahoo.com wouldn't go until I got home and the phone hooked up to the wireless, went in 2 seconds. ::)
Any ideas anyone?  ???
I was going to post about my wonky BB, but judging by the posts on here you already know about it!
Hoping for normal service to resume  :fingers:
Cheers,
Gavin  :)

I have an iPhone, Bat, and I absolutely love it, but that's neither here nor there. ;)

I'm not sure I quite understand your problem. Are you saying you have an IDNet account setup on your iPhone, and you can send to IDNet addresses, but not anything else?

The first thing I'd check is that authentication is enabled on the outgoing mail server.

Hi,
I love it too, when it works!
It almost seems as if it's down to which way the wind is blowing. The Yahoo address is a no go from the iPhone full stop, error message "invalid receipient", other addresses are hit and miss. However from one idnet address to another is only a 2 minute round trip on the iPhone. Other error messages include "incorrect password" even though messages were downloaded a minute before.
Sometimes incoming emails are header only with no content. Other times you open the message and all it says is "not downloaded from server" usually the messages I actually want!
Looking a the Authentication settings I've got a choice of;
MD5 Challenge-Response
NTLM
HTTP MD5 Digest
Password
Which one is the right one as some account settings are different to others  ??? :dunno:
How well does yours work? I've got 5 different IDNet email accounts setup on the iPhone and at home.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I'd hazard a guess at password, Gavin, but it's no more than that.

Hi,
Thanks Rik and Sebby, it's working now. :thumb:
I've no idea how the settings are different from one account to the other as the phone imports them from outlook ! :dunno:
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I'll tell you what the issue was, Baz. On Outlook, you won't have authentication enabled for the SMTP server, because it's not needed since you are connected through an IDNet connection. When you use your phone, you're not connected through IDNet, and so authentication is required. Glad it's now working. :)
