During the recent problems that IDNet have had with their DNS servers I tried to change the Broadband DNS section of my Dual SSID 2700, firmware version 5.29.107.12, to "Manually configure..." both on the BT screen and on the 2Wire "Management and Diagnostic Console". It would not accept the change.

I have changed the settings within my computers, so I am now using OpenDNS; however I wonder whether anyone has managed to change this setting on the router itself?

I have searched here and http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/ir1002700HGV.htm with no success.

Any ideas?

I changed it with no problem, Steve, but I prefer to switch it within Windows generally as that gives more flexibility.

I've found using Idnet DNS for my primary, and Open DNS for my secondary quite effective, setting it in the router was quite simple. :thumb:

I've just tried it again in the 2700, I get a message saying that my PPP username is not correct, presumably not a BT one. It will not save the changed DNS settings which stay as "Obtain DNS information automatically".

Must be the BT firmware that causes the problem.

Are you hitting 'submit', Steve? If so, don't do that but type javascript:document.pagepost.submit() in the address bar of the browser, then hit enter.

Thanks Rik, do I type "javascript:document.pagepost.submit()"?

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, but I want to get it right!
