I don't believe any networks coverage maps, statistics prove its there, but whether you can receive it is another matter

I've just had a nose on the "three" site and there's no sign of an iphone, or more bizarrely, my phone! Looking at O2 they want £44 a month and there's no mention of internet costs on the tariffs I just looked at. I sent 3 an email as it's just occurred to me that I've never had anything telling me the length of my contract (I imagine it's 18 months, but as it was a brand new phone at the time, it could be 24 months which means I have 11 months left), and queried the iphone and upgrading.

I doubt I'll get anywhere with it

And now "3" are phoning me on my mobile every day while I'm in work so I can't speak to them, asking me to phone them to "discuss it". All I wanted was a reply to the email I sent asking what contract length I've got and if I can have a phone. Why is everything made so damn difficult?

They just phoned me 5 minutes ago on my home number. They've confirmed I can upgrade on January 15th, but not to what. They also said they do stock the iphone but as it's a high (hmm, I've forgotten what they said now, but implied higher running costs anyway - for them), they couldn't tell me if I'd get it or not.

In all honesty, if I can't get the iphone I probably won't upgrade to anything as I only want it for the gimmicks on it, to keep me amused on my breaks in work

The trouble is, I like the 8mp camera on my phone. It's just the lack of applications that bugs me, along with the very short battery life. It's better since I upgraded the firmware and software the other day, but not by much. If you use the internet, and play with wifi/bluetooth you'll have to recharge it by the time you get home from work!

It's a bit of a minefield, and there isn't really a phone that incorporates everything I want.

Personally, I don't believe anything compares to the iPhone, not because the iPhone is technically advanced (it's not), but because of the iPhone OS, app store, and iTunes integration.

I like a phone, and a pocket camera, no phone can ever take pictures as good say a Cannon Ixus or Panasonic Lumix, and since both can fit in your jacket pocket, have the best of both worlds, as I see it a phone cam is for a quick pic, say you dinked your car, you photo a document, things like that, then you can store or email, now a camera, that takes real photos and will give you that shot that you wanted, when the phone will always dissapoint, phone cams no matter how many megapix cannot have the lens and CCD technology of a true digital camera.

I agree. I think phone-cams are ideal for the traffic dinks and the "it's use the phone or have no picture at all" moments, but otherwise, use a real camera.

Thats the way I see it, so that should broaden the horizen of phone you want, go buy what you would like and need, not by its camera. Also an 8Mo cam could take bad pics anyway compared with a 5mp with a better lens and a CCD rather than cmos sensor, people have to realise its not the number that counts.

I used to have a camera and phone separately so I could concentrate on buying something that was best for each department. Unfortunately I don't have the camera anymore and can't really afford to get a new slim phone. My Canon 30D won't fit in my pocket either
