I guess we don't know yet whether the OTA patched version will have any issues compared with the complete download via iTunes

I updated to 5.0.1 OTA with no issue so heres hoping 5.1 is ok. I see it as the iPhone is now designed to do this and it does save bandwidth as well.

OTA upgrade wouldn't work, but upgrade via iTunes seem to be fine.

I think that may have been server related Simon, mine updated pretty quickly OTA, but I did make a backup first.  :fingers: Not sure about the new camera opening method in the lock screen though, I might see if I can disable that.

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the Internet with wifi since the upgrade?  I'm getting the wifi symbol, but unless I'm right next to the router, I'm getting, "Safari cannot open the webpage because it is not connected to the Internet".  I can connect to the router with no problem, and 3G is fine too, better, in fact.   Just seems that wifi now has an issue.  :(

I see the option to switch off 3G has returned.  :thumb:

I just wish they would make other things, such as the lock screen camera button (as Gary mentioned), and the Newsstand app an option, rather than an irremovable fixture.

I've been getting that since the update before last. When it does occur, I have to reboot the phone. It does it with 3G as well as wifi. Sometimes it just loses the will to connect to anything. Oh, that's on the 4S by the way.

Both me and my daughter have had that happen a few of times after various updates. Rebooting both phones and the router usually seems to cure it.

That's what I've done, and it's OK for now...

It doesn't happen often. I'd say that I see it, maybe once a fortnight, if that.

I rebooted mine for the first time this week since December (or November) when my 4S was replaced due to kernal crashes and phone turning off (new phone solved that) its always connected fine so far if a little slow to do so sometimes.

Steve

I rebooted mine as I received an MMS from O2 ( immediately 5.1 was installed)with some different MMS data settings than what I was using , strangely they worked.

Are you paygo Steve? I sent a mms tonight on stock settings over 2G and it worked fine, you can send pics up to 2MB to phones that will support that.

No pay monthly with iPhone data tariff the only change was to the MMS proxy . Perhaps my original setting was  wrong. Now it's  82.132.254.1:8080 can't recall what it was before.

Slightly off topic. Does anyone use their Apps for shopping? Like the Tesco apps etc?
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Simon

Yes.  Amazon and eBay, mainly.  Have used the Tesco one but I've had bad experiences with their home shopping service, so I don't use them any more.

Hmmm. Are there any apps that are for use while your shopping? Are they successfully or any use, or just gimmicks?

Glenn

Not an iPhone app, but I'm sure there is something like it, I use Colornote for shopping lists https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note&hl=en

Yep. That kind of thing.

There's loads of barcode scanners in the App Store, but not sure what they all do.
