Whats happened now?

This is getting too frequent in my opinion !!

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'More Snow', Account: 'pop3.idnet.com', Server: 'smtp.idnet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I had the same too, all sorted now though (only about 5 mins downtime!).  :rant2:

OK.

I've now managed to send mail on the 5th or 6th attempt.

I'm getting a bit concerned about all of these problems. I consider that I am paying a premium to IDNET for a quality service, but I'm not convinced that I'm getting that anymore. I could get problems like this and only pay £11.95 a month. I expect better for £17.61 a month.

There was a problem with invoices being sent out in error. In order to clear the queue, IDNet re-started the server. Downtime should only have been 2-3 minutes.

Ok.

But if I had done that in any customers computer room I would have been thrown out!

How about an email to users saying that there was a small problem, downtime would be minimal, and the server would be re-booted at 11 AM.

Waiting would, presumably, have lead to more complaints about the invoices and, I suspect, most people didn't notice the downtime - and I include myself in that, on average I send/receive around 300 emails/day through my IDNet addresses.

Jeez Rik, don't you ever leave the house/office?  :o

I noticed the invoices all 10 of them. Didn't notice any mail server downtime as I don't use any IDnet emails
