Loading http://gmail.google.com/mail/ shows this text:

Nie możemy udostępniać w Niemczech usługi pod nazwą Gmail. Nazwa tej usługi w tym kraju to Google Mail.
Podróżując po Niemczech, możesz korzystać z poczty pod adresem http://mail.google.com.
Chcielibyśmy wstawić powyżej link z adresem URL, ale tego też nie wolno nam zrobić. Bummer.
Aby uzyskać ogólne informacje o Google, odwiedź witrynę www.google.com lub www.google.de.

Which translates into:

We can not provide services in Germany under the name Gmail. The name of the service in this country to Google Mail.
Travels in Germany, you can use the e-mail at http://mail.google.com.
We would like to put over a link with a URL, but also that we must not do. Bummer.
For general information about Google, visit www.google.com or www.google.de.

Has routing gone wrong that it thinks IDNet is in Germany?

Same here. I'm not sure whether Google gets your locale from your IP or from the regional settings on your computer. It's worth checking your computer settings.

Weird quirk, wiped the firefox cache and it worked fine after that, sorry for the bother!

That is really curious, one to put in the memory bank. Mind you, I think the original text looks more like Polish than German.
