It's quite useful to have a throwaway one or two. I use one for all forum notifications, so I have formed an archive over the years.

I have used Hotmail for years..I know....I know.. 

Never had a problem.

Oh and one or two extra freebie's for Forum use.

I'd hate to see inside your attic.  I'm an inveterate thrower away.  Anything unused/unaccessed for a few months goes in the bin.  Cos if I needed it after that I'd never find it and it would be quicker to get a new one.

Not on old accounts, only newer ones I think,  mine works fine through OE.
