Baz

could some one shed  any light on this please.

its the stats from my daughters router.had slow speeds lately. I think its a netgear router, kids, :dunno:

shes in Manchester and well, im not ;D

ISP is Utility warehouse or some one through them.struggling to do a BT test at the moment

ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed    19056 kbps    1020 kbps
Line Attenuation    16.0 db    5.3 db
Noise Margin    6.0 db    10.5 db

Rik

Can't really comment without knowing the throughput, Baz, she appears to be on ADSL2+.

Baz

how does she tell Rik

Rik

Throughput or ADSL2+? The former by a speed test, the latter by asking her ISP, or telling us who it is.

I think they are just a reseller though. How do they classify her service, up to 8 or up to 24 Mbps?

Up to 16Mb, but the connection in the 1st post shows close to 19mb?

I think she is on the package one as Glenn says up to 24mb. just waiting for her to get in touch again now and for some BT tests

Rik

BT tests may not work wih an LLU line, Baz.

router stats are

Connection Speed    19056 kbps    1020 kbps

Noise Margin    6.0 db    10.5

on a netgear 54mgbs wireless adsl2+ modem router dg834g v4

she is connecting wireless

Rik

That's terrible speed for her sync, Baz, and suggests ISP congestion. Try a ThinkBroadband test to confirm the result.

They may be port blocking, tell her to try using the port 80 switch.

Baz

got a result now here

it said the ISP was TalkTalk but I dont think thats right.shes trying to find out now. the result in post 15 earlier said it is Opal Telecom

Rik

They are a reseller, Baz, so it's entirely possible. Whatever, that's a rubbish result for the sync speed and if she can change ISP she should.

If you can PM me her IP address, Baz, I can do a lookup for you.
