Resolves OK on family computer that's set to OpenDNS, but not working on my worktop when connected to IDNet.

Suspect it may be IDNet's DNS servers throwing a wobbly again, but would be happy to be proven wrong.

Not working here.  Suggest you call them in the morning.  :)

I've got an email waiting for me at home from Brian asking me to recheck.  Looks as though I will be giving it the :thumb: this evening.

Feeling of deja vu here.

It seems to have gone down again.  No access from my work laptop, but OK on the home PC which is using OpenDNS.

Would you guys using IDNet DNS mind checking again?

Thx,

It's currently down for me as well.

This may be a red herring but I've heard quite a number of people from all over Europe complaining about broken links and slow to resolve websites today. Many of the sites I visit on a daily basis are taking up to 10 seconds to resolve or don't resolve at all.

Sounds like a good advert for Open Dns then.

Without a doubt, OpenDNS is more reliable than any ISP's DNS. There is an argument that using your ISP's is a little faster, but I can't say I've ever noticed a difference.

I starting to wish I could give OpenDNS a try but unfortunately at least one of the services I connect with does not allow it.

For the last couple of days I've been getting rather a large number of broken links and that includes these forums which were unavailable to me earlier today.

I've not seen any issues, or had any other reports of problems, Zappa.

Thanks for the confirmation Rik, I'm carrying further investigation at my end as I've just found my pings are sky high (256ms average). I'm starting to suspect a local issue.

Update from Brian from first thing this morning.

It appears the hosts nameservers had experienced a problem at some point which resulted in no records being propagated, this was then cached on our DNS.

I have since taken this up with the site administrator who has updated their nameservers, even though there wasn't apparently anything wrong with the current configuration.  Time will tell whether this fixes the problem or not.  :-\
