Hi all

Having been with Pipex for 12 years I have finally jumped ship. The last straw was being disconnected despite Pipex acknowledging that I had made my regular payment and their system upgrade had caused problems for many subscribers. Also the fact that Tiscali is in financial difficulty hastened my decision.

I signed up with IDNet online last week, I 'phoned regarding a query on direct debits and actually spoke to 'real' person within seconds - what joy! Line was activated last night and running at 1.9 Mbps with a (temporary) modem while I swap our home network to a different telephone line. (yes, we're posh and have two telephone lines)

All I have to do then is escape from Pipex !!!!

Regards
David

That could prove the difficult part if posts over on TB are anything to go by.....    :)

You need a medal for suffering Pipex for 12 years! Originally they were great but things went awol around 2 and a half years ago :eek4: and have not improved since. I have been there and experienced this currently poor ISP. Your choice of IDNet is 100% correct and will not be regretted :thumb: Be patient and you will eventually escape from an inferior ISP ;)

Welcome....you've made the right choice. I was with Sky Connect, no don't laugh, but connect is all Sky broadband could do...it was a dial up service the rest of the time. You'll notice the difference in speed & reliability immediately.

I now have a speedy connection and i don't have to worry about call centres in India if something goes wrong. At the end of the day all i want is a reliable broadband connection, not too much to ask for, though i'm afraid some of the big names in the business have no idea how to provide even that.

Thanks to all for the welcome - I am starting to feel I am a member of an exclusive club!

To quandam;
I signed up with Pipex when there were very few options and, as you say, they were a good ISP.
As a customer and supplier to Pipex I knew the owners very well until they sold out a few years ago (long before Tiscali took over). I stuck with them because I worked from home (hence the second telephone line) and did not want the hassle of changing supplier  Now I am retired I am free to change.

My main concern is that I have always paid by credit card which was OK a few years ago. It's too late to change to direct debit - they will probably end up charging me twice!

Still, I will be positive - who knows I might be one of the lucky ones and 'escape' without them coming back to haunt me in a few months time.

 :welc: There are only 1330 of us on the forum, so it is very exclusive. I hope you can get the final payments sorted soon.

If they start giving you grief, file a complaint via the ISPA and all will magically be sorted. :)
