nearl 2 hours :o   my router status is now showing an up time of nearly 103 hours which would make it right as from this drop. Was going so well lately too :dunno:

anybody else get this or not.

Sebby

I can never remember if this means the router is trying to sync or establish a PPP session. Do you know if the router is sync'd during these periods?

Rik

Nothing here, Baz. Most line drops are local issues, eg a noise burst or engineering work at the exchange. If you call support tomorrow, they will be able to tell you whether it was user requested, or due to some other cause.

sorry Sebby I cant say either thats why I always ask here ;)

Thanks Rik. may have been work. Do BT work at that time ;D ;D

Rik

Yes, that's a classic time for engineering work at the exchange, Baz.

Baz

is there an online way of checking the status of my exchange

Simon

You mean whether there's engineering works going on?  Don't know, but you can have a look on Sam Knows, and see if there's any upgrades imminent.

Baz

yeah thats what I meant Simon. Im sure ive done it before from Samknows but just cant remember how, unless it was a different site.

from Sams it says BT Wholesale WBC has set an enablement date of 30/09/2009 for my exchange

Rik

That doesn't mean there's not work being done now. Keep an eye on the pattern and contact support to investigate if it continues - they have far more detailed information than Samknows.

sorry cant give any more details was hoping to find out from here.

Sebby

I think that is loss of sync, which suggests some kind of line problem, most likely noise. :(

Rik

Best thing you could do, Baz, would be to always run Routerstats. That way, you'll build a picture of what is happening to your noise margin over time.
