Started getting a high ping on irc and kicked off WoW, so I reconnected and IRC is ok now, but half of the websites are working, other half isn't and neither is WoW.

Affecting anyone else?

Or taken the chair leg off the wire

My css gave me a ping of 900+ which was unplayable to say the least  :-\ :-\ Websites wouldnt load at all either! Although google did - took 2 restarts to get back in the game

Rik

Now, if you didn't play games, you wouldn't have these problems. :) :out:

Am I missing something?

Why isn't there an ISP dedicated to gamers so they can play with their pings to their heart's content?

If only >_>

Rik

It's an interesting niche market possibility I would think, with the network optimised for fast response, but not necessarily good for downloads... I just wonder how many gamers would be that committed.

Nova

I'd take a 256 kbit package if it guaranteed me <100 ping to the peering point (obv. can't do much about OTHER companies network infrastructure)

It would be interesting to hear from Simon or Tim as to whether this could be achieved in some way. Potentially, it might be a good money spinner for the ISP that could deliver it.
