QuoteThe new system would track all e-mails, phone calls and internet use, including visits to social network sites.

I don't know why they don't just assign us all a special branch officer to watch our every move. That would solve the unemployment problem too. :) Unless, of course, it was this one.

Up to a point I can see how being able to access these type of records could assist in bringing criminals to justice. However as your link clearly demonstrates the people with access to sensitive data are often not to be entrusted with a broom. They also have a proven track record of abusing these powers. Put simply, they are not to be trusted which in my view makes these initiatives something to fight against.

If we're going for a pincer movement, I have the very spot in mind. :)

If my emails ever start getting monitored, I'll setup my own mail server. I've got nothing to hide, but this is just a step too far, imho.

Rik

It is. We might just as well have CCTV cameras in the home, the amount of surveillance would not be hugely increased.  >:(

Holy cow, Rik, tell her she needs a shave. That's a bloody big beard she's got going on her chin.

Joseph Goebbels would be pleased his ideas are being re-invented for a new generation.

God......who the heck voted these spineless no-brainers into power and did you ever think the state would have so much control of your life when you did vote?
