I want to download a large program (Mandriva 2009 Spring 4.6gb) but i'm almost up to my download limit this month.

When does the new month begin? is it midnight tonight? Sounds obvious, i know, but it might not be.

Thanks
Ted

Ted

The download allowance on "Your Account" page is indeed reset at midnight tonight.

However be careful as I believe the monthly allowance does in fact run from your billing date so you may go over your allowance for the month and get charged.

To quote from the idnet web site

"Bandwidth allowance is calculated from the 1st day of the month i.e. the allowance covers the calendar month rather than your 'Billing' month (Billing Month being 30 days from the date that you pay for your subscription)"

Rik

The allowance runs from the 1st of every month, Lozcart, it's independent of billing date, which has always confused me. IDNet are happy to adjust billing dates to the 1st if requested.

Thanks Rik for confirming that, I always thought it was the opposite (monthly from billing date)

I better get downloading tomorrow  ;)

Ted

I thought it would be from the first of the month, but i had a niggling doubt as to the actual time. i believe the stats are updated at around 9.00am and i just wondered ...
It would be daft to go almost 5gb over for the sake of a few hours  :shake:

I prefer to download these things overnight as hopefully the servers are not as busy.

I would certainly be a bit wary of going for it just after midnight, Ted, but I'm assured it's safe to do so.

If there are any problems (i.e. if you are billed when you think you shouldn't be), at least you know IDNet will sort it for you. Imagine trying to sort that with an ISP like Tiscali! :P
