Thanks everyone. I managed to input the password for the router, something i couldn't do at the install stage because i forgot the password was the same as my IDNET account password.

Couldn't find the page for the wireless function but only me uses the computer...so is it vital i change the setting? And couldn't find the SSID.

Honestly....i have a host of qualifications, speak several languages, pilot a small aircraft and play the spoons BUT a damn Netgear router nearly had me beat.
The DG834 v4 does not have wireless its only he DG834G that does  :) simple way is does it have an aerial?
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Many thanks Rik....panic over with for now. Just for fun but are Sobraine's responses to newbie's queries always so armageddonish? Because it did feel like i'd been thrown a live hand grenade to nurse until i figured things out for myself. LOL

Luckily you and many others were around and thanks for being there.

I take more Valium than Rich, Dave. ;)

Rick (sobraine) probably thought, as I initially did, that you were wireless, Dave, in which case, a lack of security would have been more of a concern.  :)
