Yes, it's unlocked.  I haven't really had time to browse Crackberry yet, so I'll head over there when I can, but it's bed time now.

I've done some googling for you and it seems that the storm can't be unbranded. All other RIM devices can be using software which was leaked from RIM and available on torrents.

Typical!  Thanks for looking though, Lance.  Guess I should have paid the extra to get a fully unbranded one.  :(

Although i would take a look for yourself, Simon, as i read that no storms are unbranded. If some are being sold in such a state, then it must be possible!

Yes, Seb.

The P1 was my first (actually I had a P910 some years ago briefly), but the iPhone was significantly harder to get used to given it being a touchscreen qwerty (with no feel). Believe me, you'll get good on the Blackberry. :)

I'm getting better already.  I've now reinstalled the software three times, because for some reason, all of the default sounds went silent.  Seems the latest software version has a bug, so had to revert to previous version.

:hehe:

This might be one for Steve, if he's watching, but I'm having trouble getting the email client to 'reconcile' with my mailboxes.  I have three accounts set up, all of which were set up automatically by the BB.  One is a POP3 account, and the other two, both IDNet accounts have been set up as IMAP.  I can't see anywhere these settings can be changed.

I was of the impression that emails downloaded on the phone would remain on the server until such time as I downloaded or deleted them on my computer, as that's how it's worked with all of my other phones with email.  However, even if I delete an email on my computer, they all still remain on the phone, and if I want to clear them, I have to do so manually.  Any ideas on this?

Lance

Are the imap accounts done through push email? If not, how long are you leaving between deleting the email on the pc and checking the phone. I would expect the phone to catch up next time it checked the account.

Simon

Hmm...  how is the length of time between checks determined, Lance?  I think it's all push email on this phone, and there doesn't seem to be any other option.  I'll leave it a bit longer next time, but when I clicked 'Reconcile Now' on the phone, after I'd deleted some emails on the computer, they were still 'stuck' on the phone.

I've not got a clue how the time is determined, Simon. Usually it's in the settings but if its all push it probably isn't there. I'd certainly expect the 'reconcile now' to work though.  :dunno:

Steve

Must be the other Steve ;D I know nothing.

Presumably you are relying on the PC POP3 account deleting the deleted emails on the server when they are deleted from the PC which would happen at the next send and receive. If push email acts like IMAP only when they been deleted from the server will they dissappear from the phone.

Not really, what you're describing is the way it works for me too. I haven't really been concerned enough to look into it. There should be the option to reconcile now and settings options on which wins when you reconcile, either mailbox or handheld.

Yes, there is, Steven, and currently it's set to Mailbox wins, which I would have thought to be correct.  :dunno:

I'm still busy trying to brick it at the moment.  Believe it or not, the latest software seems to have a bug, which prevents the previewing (and setting?) of the pre-installed ringtones, of which there are loads, so I tried going back to an earlier version, and the 'downgrade' stalled, so after 35 minutes of it being 'stuck', I had to remove the USB connection, which one is not supposed to do, and sure enough, it wouldn't boot up afterwards.  After a couple of involuntary bowel twitches, I had the bright idea of removing the battery for a few minutes, but it still wouldn't boot up, so, in desperation, I just connected it to the PC again, and hoped that the Desktop Manager software would do it's job, which, thankfully, it did, but in doing so, the automatic backup had been wiped, so I'm now back on the software with the ringtones bug, and the task of setting it all up again.  At least the Calendar and Contacts are easy, as they just sync from Outlook, and I hadn't got any data on it to have lost, so it could have been worse.
