Well, it's here! Now, to break it!

I'm a little disappointed that it's still Vodafone branded, so I'm going to try the update technique with the vendor.xml file deleted.

One thing I'm having trouble with, is getting it Bluetoothed with my Nokia. They both seem to connect, but each time I try to send a file from the Nokia, I get the very helpful message, 'send failed'.

That can be a big disappointment if you're used to charging once a week! I have a spare battery and desktop charger and swap them each morning.

That's me, I am not dependent on a mobile phone, certainly I find the battery life quoted for these mini computer phones disappointing
if you wish to use their full functionality. It seems bizarre reading various blogs i.e re iphone that people basically turn them into a 2G mobile phone so they can last the day out.

3G is quite poor in this area, so I tend to leave mine on 2G anyway. This certainly doesn't appear to pick up as good a signal at home, as the Nokia does. Only getting 2 or 3 bars, when I get the full 5 with the N82. Anyway, just about to do the software upgrade...

Have to say, things seem a bit long winded on it at the moment, but I expect there are lots of shortcuts I've yet to find. For example, coming here (or to Pals) was two clicks on the Nokia, but it's much more round the houses on the BB.

That's what I meant about Blackberry's having a slightly clunky interface, but I should think you'll get used to it, just like anything. A lot of it will be down to the fact that it's very different to Nokia/SE, which you're used to.

I love the phone itself, but constantly find myself getting frustrated with the tiny keys, and as I spend so long on it, on forums, each day, I just thought I'd try something else, and it's also a birthday present to myself.

SE don't seem to have much to offer, and the N97 and N86 would probably have been too pricey, besides, it's nice to have something totally different to play with.

Sounds good - the small keys on the N82 are what put me off in the end as well. Couple of weeks to early for your birthday though!

It might sound silly, Steve, but everyone's got an iPhone. I wanted something different, and I also liked the idea of the 'clickable' touchscreen.

OK, I've just restarted it, and BUGGER!! Still got a Vodafone splashscreen on start up. I definitely removed the vendor.xml file, so I don't know how this has happened. The only thing I can think of is that the upgrade overwrites, but doesn't entirely remove the old OS.

If you're using your O2 SIM, then yes. Unlocked and unbranded are 2 different things, as I'm sure you're aware. Have you managed to find any guides that explain how to unbrand it?
